Cummings, Ph.D., M.H.S., and the brand new York City Division of Health and Mental Hygiene Swine Influenza Investigation Team: Outbreak of 2009 Pandemic Influenza A at a New York City School In 2009 April, clusters of cases of 2009 H1N1 influenza involving potential human-to-individual transmission were reported in multiple countries.1 Among the earliest and largest clusters determined in the United States was an acute outbreak of 2009 H1N1 influenza at a fresh York City high school.2 This outbreak prompted an instantaneous and fast investigation by the brand new York City Section of Health and Mental Hygiene. This report describes the clinical and epidemiologic findings out of this investigation.

The mechanism by which an increased degree of Lp lipoprotein escalates the risk of heart disease is less well understood; it could involve LDL lipoprotein cholesterol,26 the inhibition of conversion of plasminogen to plasmin,37 the inhibition of the expression of tissue factor,38 or the carriage of proinflammatory oxidized phospholipids.39 We found no significant association between either rs10455872 or rs3798220 and the plasma degree of apolipoprotein B, fibrinogen, or C-reactive protein. In conclusion, we have identified two common SNPs in LPA that correlate with both the Lp lipoprotein level and the risk of heart disease. These SNPs describe 36 percent of the variation in the Lp lipoprotein level. One in six individuals carries a variant LPA allele and thus has a risk of coronary disease that is increased by a factor of 1 1.5..
